iPod Sales

As far as iPod sales go there are a ton out there, all claiming to be the cheapest. However, most companies can only go a little bit lower than the original price. Some of the best prices are on the Apple Web site and they are obviously always in stock. We went to Best Buy's online site and they were completely sold outat the time, as their iPod were priced lower than Apple's. Best Buy's deal is still not as good as some places, but the deals are difficult to find because they are usually one day sales or limited offers.

Apple has had an enormous profit on these music players. Apple said profits for the three months before December 25th last year were around $295 million alone, and this year is estimated to be higher. According to BBC news online, the earnings for Apple's first fiscal quarter were the highest quarterly figures in its history and ahead of Wall Street expectations. Its shares jumped more than 10% in after hours electronic trading to a 12 month high. The success of the iPod, which first went on sale in 2001, has helped revitalize Apple's stock price and the company says it now has a 65% share of the hard drive-based portable music market.

Back in last February Apple held an iPod sale for one day with 10% off the regular price of iPods and many related accessories because of its 100 million free songs promotional deal with Pepsi. Last year Apple made close to $216 million alone in the iTunes music store as well as add-on hardware and services for the iPod sale.
